Our family moved to Texas in 2020. We were immediately thrown into a southern culture unfamiliar to us. Besides the well-known use of the word “y’all”, we also heard terms such as “Have a blessed day” and “God is good”. We fell in love with the people here in Texas and their unhinged willingness to speak of God and His goodness.

Though I adore the phrase “God is good”, which welcomes people to see God’s hand in their lives and the blessings He pours upon them, I felt as though it gives some people the opportunity to think that if their life isn’t going smoothly, then God must not be good.
In life, we all face challenges that test our faith and shake our foundations. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, health issues, financial struggles, or relationship difficulties… the weight of these trials can be overwhelming. In such moments, it’s easy to question God’s goodness and wonder where He is in our pain.
Yet we are reminded that God is still good, even when our circumstances suggest otherwise.
It’s crucial to remember that struggling is part of the human experience.
In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
This promise is not just a comforting statement; it’s a reminder that Jesus understands our pain. He faced trials and temptations, and through His resurrection, He demonstrated that victory is possible even in the darkest times.
While we may not understand why we’re going through specific challenges, we can trust that God can use our experiences to mold us into His likeness, strengthen our faith, and prepare us to help others in their struggles.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
Life’s challenges are undeniably difficult, but they do not negate God’s goodness. Instead, they provide an opportunity for us to deepen our faith, experience His presence, and witness the transformative power of His love. When we find ourselves in the valleys, let us remember that God is still good, and He is working all things together for our good.
